VERMONT PRIMARY ELECTION

The statewide Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 in the Stamford Community Room from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There is no deadline to register to vote.  You will be able to register to vote at the town office during regular office hours and throughout election day.  Forms can be obtained at the town office or you can register to vote through Vermont's online voter registration system at https://olvr.vermont.gov/.

An early or absentee voter, a family member, authorized person or health care provider can request an absentee ballot in Vermont, without providing any reason for the request, by telephone, in person, or in writing until 12 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026.  If you wish to request an absentee ballot, please contact the town office at (802) 694-1361 or  townclerk@stamfordvt.net.

The deadline to file a petition to run for the office of Justice of the Peace is Monday, July 20, 2026 by 5 p.m.  The petition must be signed by 1% of the registered voters or at least 8 signatures.  Nominating papers and the Consent of Candidate form may be picked up at the town office.

Nomination Papers to run for an elected office are available at the town office and are due back by Monday, January 26, 2026 by 5 p.m.  Absentee ballots will be available and can be requested until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026.  Please call the town office at (802) 694-1361.
